CENTO x cocomat.bike x elafonisos eco

During the weekend of 10-11/09/2022 in Elafonisos, one of the most beautiful parts of Greece and a symbol of free tourism due to camping, in cooperation with cocomat.bike and the organization elafonisos eco, we took steps to support the ecological initiatives taking place on the island.

We took the boat across the island leaving our cars off it with the wooden bicycles of cocomat as a means of transport. The big goal of the local government and the organization is that Elafonisos has no cars and the population moves by bicycles since the road network of the whole island is only 12km!

Wanting to reduce the use of plastic, as CENTO, we donated a sewing machine to the church of the island along with fabric ready to be cut for sewing in order to sew fabric bags and not to use plastic packaging. In the summer of 2023 we wish all visitors to receive a cloth bag on their arrival to the island as a symbol of the above!

We also supported the initiative of the organization to create three more water kiosks (there is already one) offering clean water to the population and tourists at a price of 10L/0.50€ in order not to buy plastic water bottles at ten times the price polluting the island!

We carried out a symbolic tree planting at the central church of the island (Agios Spyridonas) and participated in the voluntary blood donation at the town hall of the island.
We enjoyed the beauties of the island by swimming in the crystal clear waters of Elafonisos and returned to Athens ready for the next adventures!
